about

Fueled by emotion as raw and slicing as the bitter winds of northern B.C, Canadian singer-songwriter Theresa Pasaluko has staked her claim as an ambitious and powerful female force. From the rural landscape of Smithers to the sprawling streets of Vancouver, Pasaluko’s geographical influences channel through both her 2008 self-titled EP, and her 12-track album Sound of Town from 2010. Having honed a sound that blends her love of roots, rock and soul, the 28 year-old currently draws inspiration from her home of Victoria B.C.

Pasaluko has performed alongside such notable artists as Alex Cuba, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Fred Eaglesmith, Rachelle van Zanten, and David Miles. Her tunes have been featured on the CBC and the Peak, and her original track, “More of the Times” placed among the top 20 in Vancouver's Shore 104 fm 2010 acoustic song search. The fervorous singer-songwriter has appeared at Haida Gwaii’s Edge of the World festival, Cowichan Valley’s Islands Folk fest, and Port Renfrew's Song and Surf Festival 2016. Formerly the lead singer for Victoria's 11 piece hip hop big band "The New Groovement" Theresa has accompanied them in performing in festivals like Tall Tree Music Festival, Rifflandia and Breakput west. Their debut record which demonstrate's Theresa's versatile and powerful vocal range, recently won album of the year at the 2016 Vancouver Island Music Awards.

Pasaluko is a familiar face around pubs and clubs, solo, accompanied by her slide guitar sidekick Matt Bromley, or four piece band; Dustin Becker- Bass, and Sean Thompson- Drums, her live performances having rendered her a standout act in Victoria’s music scene. Her sets are charged, intimate and engaging, enveloping the audience with her swelling vocals and passionate sense of presence. Her lyrics capture the temptation of escapism in the face of life’s at times overwhelming immensity, while pressing the listener not to run from their emotions. A reminder to feel every raw, vast multitude that life has to offer, her music stresses time as precious commodity. Pasaluko has a honed skill for articulating experience, and so alternatively, she’s willing to feel everything so you don’t have to. Pasaluko’s upcoming gigs are regularly updated through Facebook, and her album Sound of Town is available for download on Bandcamp. theresapasaluko.bandcamp.com
